Teen Leadership Opportunities

Teen Leadership Opportunities

Government has always been a hard subject for me to comprehend. Even though I am surrounded by Congressional issues on a day-to-day basis, I have never truly understood how our government worked, until I took AP Government. If you’re like me, or even the complete opposite of me, but you want to better understand our government, how it runs, the different committees, and everything in between, a great Teen Leadership Academy opportunity is open for applications.

The Mayor’s Teen Leadership Academy is run by the City of Chandler and strives to educate teenagers on our city government. Students who are accepted into this program will be given the opportunity to meet with some of our government officials, while also participating in activities that will help them understand how Chandler is run. This
Academy will be held March 11-15 form 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., daily.

This great program does have some qualifications participants must meet to qualify:

  • Currently enrolled in high school or similar level home-school program
  • Must be a Chandler resident
  • Must have transportation to and from the City Hall complex all five days
  • Must have a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn about the City

Knights, this is an amazing opportunity to learn more about our government and our city as a whole. Luckily, applications are now being accepted for the Spring 2019 Academy. They are due Friday, Jan. 25, 2019. If you have any more information regarding this leadership opportunity, contact the office of the Mayor and Council at 480-782-2222.
