Tomorrow marks the beginning of a significant month, Women’s History Month. Throughout March, we honor women and their impactful role in society. One of those women goes by the name of Amelia Earhart. Amelia Earhart was the first female to fly solo across the United States nonstop. Her contributions to aviation helped improve our current flying navigational technology that we use today. Without Earhart and other women, our society would not be as advanced as it is now.

In 1937, on the first of June, Earhart’s second attempt at becoming the first female pilot to fly worldwide was successful. This event was unique for women, as their roles were somewhat limited at the time. However, due to her achievements and many others, that changed for the better. Women had more job opportunities and could be anything they desired to be. Unfortunately, Amelia Earhart’s career as a pilot ended when she went missing on one of her phenomenal travels. Although she is not here with us today, her legacy will continue to live on forever.

Women’s History Month is a particular time we use to celebrate and recognize the accomplishments of women throughout history. This month can be seen as an inspiration to future female generations to pursue their dreams. We can remind ourselves to further advocate for women’s empowerment in all aspects of our daily lives. This month fosters respect, appreciation, and better awareness for the stories we hear about women and their influence on not only our past but our future as well. We can look up to these females and continue being extraordinary and striving for the impossible. Go Knights!
