It’s bewildering to think that 2020 is already almost over; there are only two and half more months to go until 2021! Stores have already began to prepare for Thanksgiving, and radio stations are playing Christmas carols. However, Halloween is approaching a lot faster: next Saturday is October 31st.

Because of the chaos and frenzies of this year, many people haven’t prepared for a socially-distanced Halloween night (I didn’t even realize Halloween was next week until yesterday). With only a little over a week left, people are scrambling left and right for costume ideas. So, Knights, here is a short list of some fun and spooky costume ideas to consider for a ghostly Halloween!

Pirate

Embrace your inner Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth Swann and dress up as a pirate! Whether you want to buy a relatively cheap pirate costume from a Halloween store or compose your own out of feathered hats, boots, long sleeved shirts, petticoats, skirts, and pants, going as a pirate for Halloween is an iconic look.

Snow Globe

For a more unique costume, dress up as a snow globe! You’ll have to make your own costume, of course, but there are tons of different blogs and websites that can DIY teach you with just a short Google search. Pick any type of snow globe: a Christmas, Halloween, or travel designed globe will do. This costume is also perfect for social distancing!

Vampire

Vampires go a long way; dress up as Dracula or as your favorite Vampire Diaries character. Find a long, dark cape, some fake fangs, and slick your hair back.

Ghost

Of all the costume ideas on this list, this is the most simple one. Find a giant bedsheet or table cloth (any color, but traditionally aim for white), cut out some eye holes, pull it over your head, and BOO! You’re a ghost! A recent trend among the teenagers and preteens is to put sunglasses on your face, over your ghost “cape”. Sunglasses + bedsheet = a very cool costume.

Jack-o-Lantern/Pumpkin Head

Buy a pumpkin, carve a funny or spooky face into it, scoop out all of the insides, and make an opening wide enough for your head. It’s simple, but does the job. Of course, the scent of pumpkin might get a bit sickening after an hour or two, but have some fun walking around with a jack-o-lantern on your head!

Scooby Doo Gang

Scooby Doo and his friends are legendary for many of us; we grew up watching them solve mysteries and crimes with their Mystery Machine on television. Get all your friends or siblings together and designate characters. You can’t go wrong with the Scooby Doo Gang. To quote Scooby, “Ruh-roh-RAGGY!”.

Sun & Moon

For a more celestial and dreamy costume, find a friend or sibling and dress up as the Sun & Moon. It’s easiest to make your own costume; Pinterest has tons of DIY “lessons” to choose from. If you want to include more people, dress up as the entire solar system: bring in planets, stars, comets, and asteroids!

Stranger Things

In honor of the filming of Stranger Things season four commencing, bring out your inner 80’s kid and dress up as Eleven or one of the gang. “Scoops Ahoy” outfits are available on Amazon and at Halloween stores if you wish to go as Robin or Steve. If none of the characters appeal to you, dress up as the Mind Flayer.

Have fun this Halloween, Knights! Remember to social distance, but have a spooky night.
