Spring break has officially ended, and ACP enters its final quarter of the 2018-2019 school year before our seniors graduate and summer arrives. As the first week back to school quickly finishes up, students are steadily readying themselves to continue their hard work and successfully power their way through this last quarter. Now that the end of March approaches, we find it necessary to recap all the amazing accomplishments our ACP students achieved over this astoundingly busy spring break.

A picture of Speech and Debate

As always, success stuck with our Speech and Debate Team when they attended the AIA State Tournament where the students placed in third as an overall team while also attaining their own recognitions from their individual events. In Varsity Lincoln Douglas Debate, Parsa Amini won State Champion, while Nik Pearce dominated the competition with a third place finish. With Congressional Debate, Yido Chen and Sebastian Javadpoor placed in fourth and sixth, respectively. Additionally, in the speech events, Natasha Zimmerman took State Champion for Informative Speech with Sharmila Nimbkar ending in third place, while Sebastian Javadpoor placed in second for Impromptu Speaking. In Original Oratory, Natasha Zimmerman once again won the State Champion title. In Extemporaneous Speaking, Parsa Amini ended in sixth place, and in Duet Acting, the team of Nicole Lee and Orchee Syed won third place with the team of Abriel Knipmeyer and Alex Lee following after them in fourth place.

Despite all their current accomplishments, the Speech and Debate students have claimed they are not yet satisfied and are excited to do even better next year, which we, as a school, strongly anticipate.

Additionally, with the help of Mrs. Craft, Mrs. Heun, and Ms. Mohr, our wonderful Math Club students dominated the national Mathleague.org competition over the spring break, and like Speech Debate, our wonderful math club students ended in a third place finish. In Sprint, Dean Brasen ended in eighth place for junior high, Stevie Ortiz ended in tenth place for junior high, Blake Enwiller ended in third place for ninth grade, and Jason Gong ended in first place for tenth grade. For eleventh grade, Taman Truong won first place, Michelle Yao won third place, Candy Gao won fourth place, and Josh Tenorio won sixth place. It truly is incredible how much our students achieved over this past break. As the start of April soon approaches, we are certain they will continue to excel with all their dedication to their schoolwork and extracurricular activities. We cannot wait to see what this final quarter will bring to our campus and hope all our students will keep up their strong determination and excellent work as we finish up this school year. We wish everyone luck in striving for the best and await news of future student accomplishments.
