Recognizing AAA Nominee: Aurelia Schultz

Although practicing acts of kindness is something that should be done with integrity, whether or not you are awarded for your services, it’s always nice to get recognized for your hard work, which is why every year, the Chandler Unified School District awards three individuals-a parent volunteer, a teacher or staff member, and a student-from each school to be recognized for their impact on their campus. On February 7, 2023, three individuals were recognized in our school’s assembly in the courtyard for all the hours and caring smiles they have given to our campus and to our Knight family: Mrs. Kearney: a parent volunteer, Mrs. Treadway: the Culinary teacher, and finally Aurelia Schultz, a member of the Class of 2023 and the person we’ll be interviewing in today’s article regarding who she is as a person, her achievements, and her time at ACP!

Aurelia is a senior at ACP High School, and she enjoys signing American Sign Language (ASL), and playing the double bass. She also enjoys backpacking and baking cookies in her free time. “ACP has always been a close-knit school”, she recounts. “I remember when the graduating class was only 80 students when I started here, and everyone knew each other. Moving into a larger school definitely changed many aspects of our school culture, but I feel like having a community space, such as the library, helps keep us tight-knit and close with each other.”

Among her most-cherished attributes, Aurelia values kindness, as “cliché” as it may seem, according to her. She says that kindness is a thing that can get you far in life, and it will help you make life-long friends. “The world is a difficult place to live in, especially with social media, and our constant access to all the horrors in the world,” she explains, “but if we can spend our time helping at least one person, be it ourselves or a friend, we can truly make a difference.”

As Aurelia and many other seniors graduate from ACP, we must take the opportunity to follow in their footsteps and take up their values as hard-working, caring, and endearing individuals. Although it is easy to be bogged down by the sour incidents in life, life’s many challenges come from the ability to get back on your feet again even if many people and things are holding you down. So, Knights, don’t let the inconveniences in your life stop you from becoming your extraordinary self!
