Academic Decathlon

Academic Decathlon

This Saturday was ACP High School’s very first Academic Decathlon competition, and their performance was absolutely amazing! The team finished 4th behind some of the top schools in the state, which is incredible, especially for it being their first competition.

I had the opportunity to talk to Hanna Nguyen, the 1st place (tie) social science winner, about her experience with competing. When asked why she chose to join she said, “Winning 1st place felt awesome”. During the competition she felt very tense, as “the suspense in the room was unmatched”. She also said that finding out that she won was quite a shock, but she worked hard for it, and her work was visible through her results.

Other medal recipients include:

  • Palak Sadana – 1st place Social Science (tie) and 1st place Science
  • Brad Wu – 2nd place Social Science
  • Khushi Ahir – 2nd place Science
  • Kavya Mishra – 3rd place Math and 2nd place Music
  • Megan Krejekian – 1st place Art
  • Kayla Appiah – 3rd place Art

Our school’s AcDec team did great on Saturday, and will continue to do so throughout their next competitions. Good job and congratulations to all of the members on the team! Go Knights!
