September Events in Arizona

September is now upon us. If you’re unsure what to do this month, here are a few events that may interest you.

Theater Events

The Chandler Center for the Arts is holding a few shows this month.

  • The Sure Fire Soul Ensemble will be having a free concert on Saturday night the 9th. This concert will be held at the Chandler Center for the Arts at 7:30 P.M. Out of San Diego, California, this group, classified as a heavy cinematic soul group, plays many songs featuring the organ as well as gritty funk music.
  • The Chandler Center for the Arts will also have the 18th Annual Mariachi and Folklorico Festival on Saturday, September 30th at 7:00 P.M. Numerous mariachis and dancers will be there to perform a few traditional music and dances from Mexico. Tickets for this event are as low as $25.

Festivals & Other Events

There are plenty of other events available to the public throughout the month of September.

  • National Teddy Bear Day is on September 9th, and there will be a free arts-and-crafts fair at Murphy Park in Downtown Glendale from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. There will also be teddy bears for sale to donate to Trauma Teddy programs, hospitals, and first responders.
  • Build-a-Bear Workshop will also be holding a National Teddy Bear Day sale. Bears will be on sale for only $5.50 on Friday the 8th and Saturday the 9th.
  • There will be a Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market at the WestWorld of Scottsdale from September 15-17. Over 140 vendors from Arizona will be there selling their vintage items, such as dresses, furniture, unique jewelry, and other treasures. This event will go from 5-9 P.M. on Friday and 9 A.M.-4 P.M. on Saturday and Sunday. One-day tickets are only $8.
  • The 6th Annual Rockin’ Taco Street Fest will be at the Dr. A.J. Chandler Park from Noon-9 P.M. on Saturday, September 16th. Numerous food trucks and restaurants will be there. There will also be plenty of music and other live entertainment, such as a taco-eating contest. Admission is $8 online or $12 on the day of the event.
  • The Constitution Fair in Gilbert is on September 16th from 5-9:30 P.M. The fair is all about patriotism with military displays, plane flyovers, fireworks, food, and music. Tickets for this event are $4 per person and $12 per family before the fair, and $5 and $15, respectively, at the gate.

Sporting Events

Now is a good time to be a sportsĀ fan in the valley. With baseball’s regular season wrapping up this month, and the football season getting underway this weekend, there are plenty of opportunities to see the Valley sports teams compete for a chance at a championship.

  • The baseball regular season wraps up at the end of this month, and the Arizona Diamondbacks are fighting to get into the postseason for the first time in six years. There are only a few chances left to see this young and entertaining team play ball at Chase Field in downtown Phoenix before October.
  • The NFL season begins this weekend, and the Arizona Cardinals are looking to reach the playoffs for the 3rd time in the last four years. The first chance to see the Cardinals at home is September 25th, a Monday Night game against the Dallas Cowboys.
  • College football has also officially kicked off. The ASU Sun Devils have two more home games this month, so be sure to make your way out to Tempe and enjoy some Sun Devil football.

No matter what your interests are, Arizona has something for you in the month of September. The weather may not be the best, but now is a good time to get outside and enjoy the numerous events and festivals available this month.
