“Once Upon a Mattress”: ACP’s First Musical!

This year was chock full of firsts for the ACP family, our first home game for football, and our first play in our auditorium. And now ACP is proud to present the first musical in our own auditorium: “Once Upon A Mattress”. We sat down with Mr. Bozovich, our theatre teacher, and asked him a few questions about the musical and the production.

Q: What is “Once Upon A Mattress” about?

A: “Once Upon A Mattress” is a modern retelling of the classic fairy tale, The Princess And The Pea.

Q: Why did you decide to do this musical?

A: I didn’t decide on it, instead, the executives of the drama club chose it because they wanted to have a theme for both plays this year, and they settled on retellings of classic fantasy tales, first with “Peter And The Star Catcher” and now with “Once Upon A Mattress”.

Q: What do you think of the musical personally?

A: I think it’s a very cute story, a timeless classic. It’s not the deepest story, so don’t come in expecting on seeing a new way to live your life, but I can assure you that you will have a lot of fun during the play.

Q: How do you think the cast will perform?

A: I think the cast is great and the leads are phenomenal. I think the show is going to go perfectly, and our first musical is going to be a really good time.

Q: Is there any way other students can assist with the play?

A: Well, it would be awesome if more students signed up for the tech class. That’s where we mainly get the tech aides, but others can sign up while auditions are being held.

If this interview has made you interested in our first musical, the days that you can see it are April 28th, 29th, and 30th at 7 P.M. in the auditorium. General admission is $10 and Students are $8. We hope to see you there to celebrate the first step into a long line of fantastic musicals that our school will perform. Go Knights!
