The Change Makers Hackathon Competitors
Last weekend, Josh Tenorio and Elaina Ashton participated in competition called the Change Makers Hackathon, where they won the Level 3 Functional loT award. In this event, the two of them utilized Arduino and Raspberry pi based sensors to construct prototypes that can assist physical therapists who work with disabled children. ACP is incredibly proud of Josh and Elaina, and we would like to congratulate them on their hard work. We pride them on their dedication and consideration in helping those who struggle because of their disadvantages.
I decided to interview Elaina Ashton on her involvement in the Makers Challenge to better understand the functionings of the competition:
Q: What is the Change Makers Hackathon competition?
A: The Makers Challenge is a STEM competition where high school teams produce situations given by South West Human Development to help better children with certain conditions.
Q: How did your team participate?
A: My team participated by producing our own proof of concept for the challenge and presenting it to professionals and judges.
Q: What was the experience like?
A: The experience was honestly great and eye opening, especially realizing that your help can influence someone else’s life.
Q: What was your favorite moment?
A: My favorite moments were definitely getting to work with my team toward a common goal.
