Ideas in Preparing for Homecoming

Homecoming is only a week away now and, as a result, students are rushing to prepare for their big night. The mall and shopping centers are becoming crowded with teenagers as they browse around for their dresses, suits, makeup, and shoes. Homecoming preparations can be somewhat difficult in terms of finding outfit ideas and finding pre-dance plans; due to this, I decided to help out by providing a few outfit ideas following this year’s theme and listing some restaurants to have a get-together dinner before dancing the night away.

Dress Ideas:

One example of a cute outfit for Homecoming is the red fit and flare midi dress (pictured to the right). This dress is modest and comfortable for anyone to don as they dance away at Homecoming. The vivid, deep red color of this dress is perfect in matching the color scheme from the Wizard of Oz. I would also pair this dress with dark red heels or black heels to complement the scheme of the dress’s red hue. The dress pictured to the right is taken from m.dresshead.com

Another example of a pretty dress to consider is the green midi dress (pictured to the left). This dress is semi-casual yet attractive in a manner that displays elegance. I would pair this dress with gold or black heels (if you choose to wear them) to add a flair to your outfit as well as following a balanced color arrangement. Suit Ideas:

Dresses are not the only clothing needed for Homecoming. Many choose to wear suits, and I found one suit that highlights a nice, blue hue, matching a color scheme inspired by the Wizard of Oz. However, the price is a bit much, and you do not necessarily have to purchase this suit exactly as pictured. I would search for a slimming, deep blue suit jacket similar to the picture from Men’s Warehouse or Kohl’s. The jacket will be comfortable and at a much more affordable price. At the Men’s Warehouse, look through the formal suits section for dark blue trousers, matching the color and style of the suit jacket. Men’s Warehouse can be sometimes too expensive for certain suit items, so I would browse through JCPenny, Macy’s, or Kohl’s to find a simple, black bow tie to match your outfit. Pictured to the right is the suit I was inspired by.

Places to hold a pre-Homecoming dinner:

Some options of restaurants to host a nice dinner with your friends before the dance are listed below:

BLD Chandler, The Brickyard Downtown, The Ivy, Roy’s Restaurant, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, and Firebirds Wood Fired Grill. Be sure to make reservations ahead of time.

Homecoming takes place on Saturday, September 22, so make sure to get your tickets and guess passess at the ACP Erie book store soon. I hope everyone has a great time next week. Homecoming is an event for many high schoolers to create memories for the future. Don’t miss out!
