August Art Events

August in Chandler, Arizona is not exactly the most extraordinary month in terms of heat and lack of school holidays, but the month still carries a few perks. For instance, August offers a couple of art events that will allow people to catch a glimpse of unique art mediums they may have never experienced before.

On August 18th, Downtown Chandler will be hosting its monthly Art Walk from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The event will be held indoors – a nice break from the humidity – at Makerspace, TechShop Chandler. The Downtown Art Walks are free of charge and feature local musicians and artists, along with art pieces ranging from visually appealing paintings to abstract metal works and intricate sculptures made of glass. Aside from being visually entertaining, the Art Walk will be an interesting event to go with some friends. [1]

Also, if the Art Walk does fit into your schedule, the Chandler Center for the Arts’s is currently displaying their most recent summer exhibit, “Exposure: An Exhibition of Textile Arts,” which features textile-based artworks from members of the Arizona Chapter of the Studio Art Quilt Associates. The exhibit will be presented at Chandler Center for the Arts until August 26, 2017. The gallery will be open on Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admissions will be free. [2] Several of the textile pieces will be composed of an intriguing mix of colors laid out in enthralling patterns. Chandler Center for the Arts’s “Exposure: An Exhibition of Textile Arts” exhibit could potentially be a nice, free option for those who are looking to spend time with friends or family and are interested in learning about the art quilt medium.

For those interested in artwork, or know someone who is, August’s art events will be a great treat, and a perfect opportunity to be exposed to a variety of unique art mediums. Definitely give either of these events a chance this month; both will surely be entertaining.
