Dress Up as Your Favorite Character This Friday!
The last week of October has finally arrived, bringing the long-awaited Halloween holiday with it. For the first time in what feels like ages, Halloween falls on a Saturday night instead of a weekday (finally, no homework on Halloween!).
While nowadays we celebrate Halloween with jack-o-lanterns, horror movies, trick-or-treating, and Skeltons, All Hallows Eve was originally a tradition revolving around a Celtic festival known as Samhain, where participants dress in costumes to ward off evil spirits. Centuries later, Pope Gregory III named November 1st as All Saints Day and the two separate holidays merged together and formed what became known as All Hallows Eve. Eventually, after many more years, All Hallows Eve gradually became known as Halloween, a scary night full of candies, costumes, and trick-or-treating.
Here at ACP, we strive to have the best at-school Halloween we can. Of course, as tradition states, ACP will still be celebrating All Hallows Eve this year in the form of the annual Character Day. Come to school this Friday, October 30th, dressed up as your favorite character.
Here are a few general dress guidelines from Mr. Bickes:
- No violent or risqué attire allowed.
- No weapons or dangerous props allowed.
- Character masks must be removed in classrooms, but student face masks must be worn at all times.
- Face paint and hair coloring is allowed.
- Check with administration for clarification before wearing said attire to school.
