Tara Taylor – The First Entry

Tara Taylor, Sophomore at ACP – is taking the new year on by storm. She remembers every bit of information and never misses an assignment. She’s in seven clubs, does plenty of service hours, and plays a sport. She is the impossible, extraordinary student. I’m Tara Taylor… and I’m daydreaming again. I really need to find a way to focus. Realistically, I’m just an ordinary sophomore. No, I don’t have perfect memory – far from it. I also have a hard time battling procrastination. I just haven’t exactly found a way around my problems. It’s time for me to change though. I will try new things and make my mark. What better way to do that then to write about my little adventures and ideas?

This summer, I did not exactly do anything interesting. I was just visiting family. Everyone else seems to be going on cruises and traveling to another country. I don’t want my summer to sound boring, so when someone asks me, I’m going to tell them this.

“Over summer, I traveled to Hawaii to enjoy a week at the beach with my family. One day I was relaxing on the beach, and I had built a giant, magnificent sand castle. It had several towers that reached for the sky, and a looming gate with some driftwood acting as a draw bridge, as well as a deep trench that barred the way of intruders. Decorated with seashells that I found, it was no surprise when a group of crabs surrounded it and lifted their claws as if they were praising it. The next day, I was snorkeling, and when I was looking down at the colorful reef below me, I saw something shimmering. Dragging the snorkel with me, I dived down to see what had caught my interest. I found a chest nestled in a tiny patch of seagrass. The chest was rather small, and it was surprisingly easy to heft it back up to the surface. When I got back to the shore, I forced the chest open so I could see what was inside. A small collection of lemons sat in the chest, almost as if it had been waiting patiently for someone to find it. Could you imagine that? Life gave me lemons.”

They would most likely think that I was crazy; sarcastically saying “sure.” and then ask me, “What did you really do?” I wouldn’t tell them what I really did. I would add onto my story.

“Oh, do you want to know what I did with the lemons? Instead of making lemonade, I made orange juice!”

At this point, I would expect them to roll their eyes at me.“How would you have done that?”

Considering that I don’t have a real answer for that question, I would simply respond with, “Magic.”
