Diego Navarro Setting a New Record for Varsity Basketball!

Taken from @acpknightshoops Instagram page.

Last week, Diego Navarro, captain of Varsity Basketball, set a new ACP record with 36 points in a single game. He honored his father, Daniel, who suffered from and succumbed to PSP in 2019. Daniel wore No. 11 and spread awareness of PSP for the game. They ended with a whopping score of 76-26 against St John Paul II Catholic High School.

I asked Diego to express who he is and his thoughts on his love for basketball.

Q: How did you start playing basketball?

A: I decided to start basketball in sixth grade, and that was the sport I liked the most back then.

Q: How long have you been playing basketball for?

A: I have been playing basketball for four years.

Q: How did you feel about the incredible success last week?

A: It has been a long journey, so I’m pretty proud of it. I’ve always looked up to that record so breaking it was very nice.

Q: Do you have any particular inspirations or people who inspire you?

A: My mom, as well as my dad, are the people who I look up to; they taught me to work hard everyday.

Q:What are some of your other hobbies?

A: I don’t necessarily play sports as part of a team; however, music and audio production are enjoyable.

Congratulations to Varsity Boys Basketball and Diego Navarro for all the hard work you have put into this season. Thank you to Diego for taking the time to get interviewed and spreading awareness, as well. ACP wishes the best of luck to the rest of the season!
