This holiday season, ACP-Erie will be kicking off its annual Thanksgiving Food Drive in partnership with the Chandler CARE Center. This is an opportunity to give the gift of a Thanksgiving dinner to Chandler families in need. The Chandler CARE Center, established in 1995, is a family resource center that helps connect families with social services, medical assistance, and more at free or reduced rates.

The food drive began on Monday, November 4th and will continue on until Monday, November 18th. Students are encouraged to bring in their donation items to school anytime between November 4th and the 18th. Here’s a list of the possible items that you could bring in to donate:

  • Hygiene products (shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, toothpaste/toothbrushes, feminine products)
  • Canned fruit/vegetables
  • Boxed potatoes
  • Ramen noodles
  • Cereal
  • Rice
  • Boxed stuffing
  • Dessert mix
  • Paper products (toilet paper, tissues, paper towels)

Double-check that any items you donate are sealed and in good condition. As well, a Thanksgiving meal would not be complete without a turkey! There will be money donation jars available so that the CARE Center can purchase turkeys at a later date. Since the drive will be Battle of the Classes style, please donate to your own class jar. The class that brings in the most donations will win a special bonus to their Battle of the Classes score.

Some families traditionally eat dinners such as these on Thanksgiving.

ACP’s Thanksgiving Food Drive is a chance to make a positive difference in the lives of community members in need. The goal of the food drive is to provide food for over 400 Chandler families. Consider making a donation to help create an unforgettable Thanksgiving for these families!
