Recapping Last Week’s Athletic Achievements
Last week, ACP’s sports teams had a busy schedule, racking up a series of wins for our school. Our athletes enthusiastically represented ACP in each of their games. Here’s a recap of last week’s sports games, including the first-hand perspective of a few of our athletes:
JV and Varsity Badminton
On Wednesday, September 4th, JV Girls Badminton faced Campo Verde High School and won with a sweeping victory of 9-0. The next day, JV Girls Badminton attained another victory, scoring 5-4 against McClintock High School. While our Varsity Girls Badminton teams lost against Campo Verde and McClintock, they gained more experience and are looking forward to their next game on September 19th against Casteel High School. Regarding their second game of the season, junior Sejal Jain exclaimed, “I’m really happy to be playing on a team with such talented and capable girls. I am looking forward to the rest of the season!”
Varsity Cross Country
On Friday, September 6th, Freshman Boys and Girls Cross Country participated in the Desert Solstice Cross Country meet. The Freshman Boys took 5th place out of 19 teams, and the Freshman Girls took 2nd place out of 19 teams. Taking 5th place at the meet in total, ACP’s Cross Country team is off to a strong start.
Varsity Football
Last Friday, September 6th, Varsity Football triumphed against Coronado High School in a shutout win of 47-0. On September 30th, our football team faced a 30-7 loss to Coolidge High School, but they did not let this kill their spirit! They bounced back stronger than ever on September 6th, representing our school with pride.
Varsity Swimming
On Thursday, September 5th, our Varsity Swimming team ventured to Prescott to compete against Prescott High School. They defeated the Prescott Badgers with a score of 218-115. One of Varsity Swim athletes, junior Ivy McNeil, stated, “The meet went swimmingly. The whole team swam their best and showed moral support for each other.”
JV and Varsity Volleyball
In their first games of the season, JV and Varsity Girls Volleyball lost to Valley Christian High School. They are hoping to recover at their next game at Benjamin Franklin High School this Wednesday, September 11th.
The fall sports season has only just begun for these athletes. Best of luck to each of these teams in their upcoming games!
