Last Friday during the early hours of school, StuGo hosted our second pep assembly in the gym to get everybody hyped up for the huge Ray Road Rivalry football game that evening. The first football game of the season, against our rival school Chandler Prep, was a huge success. (To find out more about that, check out our article on the game).

Spiritline performed a daring routine for us and shocked and impressed many of the students and staff with their amazing stunts and flips. The school band graced our ears with their beautiful melodies and satisfying tunes. Mr. Bickes led all four grades in a huge interactive game of “creating a thunderstorm” in the gym, before our school song came on and our mascot, Sir Thunder, came running out.

Mr. Bickes also announced the winner of the Voice of ACP for the 2019-2020 school year, who happens to be senior Jared Riley. Jared will take over as the Voice from previous ACP Alumni, Cameron Provo, and inform about the daily announcements every morning. In case of Jared being absent, Sharmila Nimbkar will take over for him.

Next up- the Jones duo, Ahlias and Aliyah Jones, acting as the MCs for the assembly, revealed what Stugo had decided for this year’s Homecoming theme: Old Hollywood. Homecoming will be on Saturday, September 21st, in the gym from 7-10 P.M. Ticket sales start September 3rd and are free with an activity card, $20 without, and $25 at the door. The Homecoming game will be on Friday, September 20th at Perry High School in Gilbert and should start at 7 P.M. The day before, September 19th, the Homecoming Tailgate will be hosted from 5-8 P.M. in ACP’s east field. More information will be out in the next couple of weeks.

Ahlias and Aliyah also introduced the 2019-2020 Varsity Football team, who performed a little skit to explain the importance of the Battle of Ray Road. Junior football player, Mario Duncan, lead the school in a little chant before handing the microphone over to Ahlias.

All in all, the pep assembly was a load of fun! This Friday there will be another assembly for fall sports in the gym. To read about the football game, check out this link: https://acpknighttimes.com/6609/sports/acp-football-slams-chandler-prep-31-17/
