DECA Dominates the Competition

DECA+Dominates+the+Competition

DECA has grown leaps and bounds this year. ACP has witnessed DECA’s many achievements throughout this year, and we, as a whole, have experienced the utter joy our team felt along with them. At the most recent competition, DECA experienced many victories throughout the day, all of which will be highlighted below.

Mackenzie Hanson (pictured left), state officer of our DECA team, recently answered questions regarding the previous tournament ACP’s DECA competed in:

Q1: How did you get involved with DECA?

A1: My sister was a senior in DECA and I was a freshman. She had super cute business clothes… it was fate!

Q2: Can you explain what buying and merchandising operations research is?

A2: The Buying and Merchandising Operations Research Event is a 20-page paper and presentation that provides an opportunity for participants to demonstrate knowledge and skills needed by management personnel through the results of research. I did my project on Syphon Draw Apothecary, which is a small soap store in Apache Junction!

Q3: What advice would you give to ACP students who want to join DECA?

A3:  Just join. The organization has, by far, been the best thing about my high school experience, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I’ve learned more things in DECA than I have in years of high school. Plus, joining means traveling, creating connections, food, and a whole lot of cute t-shirts.

Along with Mackenzie Hanson, there were many other champions: Krista Rowan as runner-up in the category Restaurant and Food Service Management; Alison Gruwell and Ashley Ruffles earned 4th place in the category Marketing Management Team Decision Making; Reegan Sobieski and Kashish Mewani earner 3rd place in Public Relations Project; and Mackenzie Hanson’s victory of 1st place in Buying and Merchandising Operations Research.

Our DECA team excelled at their competition, and we look forward to experiencing the many victories ahead of the team along with the rest of the school. Make sure to congratulate the extraordinary DECA team if you see them around campus.
