Kindness Week

Kindness Week

Adding to the hectic nature of February for ACP, Random Acts of Kindness Week is bringing attention to the best facets of our students across all grades. From selling nifty kindness stickers to helping students make eachother’s days, ACP has never seemed like a closer and more benevolent campus.

What is Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) Week?

RAK Week, celebrated from February 18-22, headlined by the official Random Acts of Kindness Day, is a celebration of kindness and the idea of ‘paying it forward’. Across the world, people drop everything they’re doing to help each other more than usual through gestures of kindness and support that helps to boost the mentality of people everywhere.

How did ACP celebrate RAK Week?

From acknowledging every student on the campus, to decorations covering most walls in the school, our ACP STUGO really went the extra mile in making sure everyone had a fun and relaxing week. Despite the onslaught of rain, the week was still a memorable experience for our ACP students. Stickers, being sold for two dollars in the Cafeteria, represented the artistic talent of our students while videos in the cafeteria continued the celebration. Besides the decorations, our fantastic ACP students passed out candy to each other and offered gifts to other students at random; truly fitting into the theme of a random act of kindness.

What does it mean to be kind?

Kindness, as a virtue, is consideration for others and a pleasant disposition. Acts of benevolence toward other people takes many forms, going from the simplicity of just asking how their day was, to empathizing with their issues and helping them on a deeper level. Even though kindness week has drawn to a close, the concepts that the week stands for can still be represented any other day of the year.

What does it mean to celebrate RAK Week?

RAK Week is larger than a celebration of global kindness; the week represents the continued reverence for our students on campus. ACP Erie, already a close-knit representation of respect across the school, went all out this week and truly went beyond the concept of kindness with decorations and warm attitudes everywhere.

To be kind is to be more than polite to others. The pass-it-forward mentality is prevalent among our students, and this tradition truly brings out the best not just in our students, but in people across the world. Thank you to our talented ACP STUGO team for the decorations, and thank you to our kind peers for continuing the mentality of respect towards all others.
