DECA Strives for the Extraordinary

ACP has a reputation for highly competitive academics, along with a budding, yet impressive athletic department. Each year, ACP adds new and exciting clubs, sports, and even academic programs. One of our newest programs is DECA, a program that focuses on preparing leaders and entrepreneurs in the world of marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. DECA recently had an exciting tournament called the District Competitions at ASU.

Pictured above is the Arizona DECA’s Slogan.

ACP’s DECA members, Reegan Sobieski and Kashish Mewani, both earned medals at the District Competitions at ASU, which was against all CUSD and Tempe Union schools. Along with many other medalists, Reegan and Kashish both delivered a spectacular performance. Kashish explained that in order to earn her medal, she had to complete an exam called the Career Cluster Exam, with a 70% or higher, score high in Role Play, where a person must decide on a category, devise a business plan in accordance with the chosen category, and speak to a judge about the plan, and Reegan also explained that to win her first place medal, she passed the Career Cluster Exam by scoring 70% or higher, earned the highest place in Role Play, and she also placed first place in her category overall.  Furthermore, when asked what her favorite part of DECA is, Kashish responded by saying she is incredibly grateful for the friendships she made while in DECA, and Reegan explained that her favorite part was dressing up in business attire, for DECA Competitions portray what a true career in business and marketing may look like.

Knights, many of our DECA members earned medals similar to Reegan’s and Kashish’s, which are not easy to earn. If you see any of our DECA members around campus, make sure to congratulate them on a job well done!
