One of ACP’s newest and most promising clubs is taking the school record to previously unimaginable heights. The Mountain Biking Club, headed by avid biker Brian Nakai, rounded their final turn in the Arizona Interscholastic Cycling League, an affiliate of the NICA.

Mountain Biking crossed the pinnacle of their second season in remarkable fashion,  placing 17th out of all 43 teams in their division. Under the coaching of Nakai, the team pushed harder than the rest through full-length summer training and self-esteem improvement through team activities. The whole season ran from July 1st to November 15th, as the team performed through grueling high temperatures and lengthy, sunny trails.

For athletes interested in a competitive biking regiment, you’ll need to bring your own mountain bike. The mountain biking team is more than just a peaceful stroll down A-Mountain, but no matter how hard the trail gets, you’ll always have this biking family behind you. The atmosphere of the team, as well as the environment, creates one of the most balanced extracurricular activities in ACP; a club that is truly as peaceful as it is rigorous.

One major requirement for the team is to bring your own mountain bike, but besides a helmet and a water bottle, you’re probably set. The team chemistry is unbreakable between the bikers, and the small yet-powerful team is one of the closest-knit families on campus.

Mountain biking may seem closer to an individual sport, but no racer succeeds without the support of their team. Training together, bonding together, and supporting each other on the trail are pivotal aspects of the sport. The development of any single rider in this club is majorly due to the growth of the team as a whole.

Mountain biking club extends a hand to many different interests. For a student seeking an amazing team dynamic, rigorous athletic training, and scenic viewing, the club is a perfect fit.

One of Arizona’s greatest allures is the scenic landscape of the environment. Besides cycling as an ever-improving and powerful team, the club provides a beautiful view for the most amazing landscapes in Arizona. The team not only takes pride in the destinations where they ride, but also how they train for the events. For more information on this club, contact Brian Nakai at [email protected].
