ACP’s Annual Mole Day Celebration

ACPs Annual Mole Day Celebration

To many, October 23rd may seem like just another ordinary day. But here on the ACP-Erie campus, October 23rd is  most celebrated holiday by both the students and faculty. Its Mole Day!

In case you didn’t know, Mole day is the celebration of Avagadro’s Number 6.02×10^23 which is the number of atoms, ions, or molecules in a single mole of a substance. You’ll learn all about Moles in chemistry class if you haven’t taken it quite yet. So, from 6:02 am to 6:02 pm on October 23rd, we celebrate Mole Day.

With a new theme each year chosen by the National Mole Day Foundation Inc., this year held the theme Moley Potter, inspired by the hit book and movie series Harry Potter by JK Rowling.

Seeing as Mole Day is definitely Mr. J’s favorite holiday, he throws a massive party each year in all of his classes. He lets the students run everything, from the entertainment to the utensils to the food (as long as they aren’t vegetables). This year, we had chips, cake, cupcakes, popcorn, soda, and even assorted breakfast food like eggs, pancakes, and waffles. Not only were there intense amounts of food, some people even brought their video game consoles and hooked them up to the document camera.

This event is definitely one to remember and a ton of fun to participate in. So Knights, what are you going to do next year for mole day to make it even better than the last?
