ACP Volleyball- Searching for a Cure

Breast cancer is an awful disease which affects about one out of every eight women. This horrific type of cancer has claimed many lives, but ACP’s Volleyball is taking a stand to help find a cure to this disease that effects millions of men, women, and families. Last Tuesday, October 23, ACP’s JV and Varsity volleyball teams competed in their annual Dig Pink game, with JV starting at 5:00pm and Varsity at 6:00 pm. Like many past years, our players were decked out in their pink uniforms, and encourage all spectators to wear pink in support of their cause.

You may be wondering, how does ACP help those who have or are currently struggling with breast cancer? Well, ACP is partnered with the Side-Out Foundation, which is an organization that “unifies the volleyball community to drive change in the way that breast cancer is treated”.  Not only does the Side-Out Foundation strive to educated young athletes on stage IV breast cancer, but they also donate all proceeds raised to the research, treatment, and cure of stage IV breast cancer. This organization also provides direct support to women, men, and families. They help support anyone who has been diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer, known as Metastatic Cancer.

This wonderful Foundation cannot do their amazing acts of kindness without public support. Support for this cause comes in all different forms, not just monetary donations. ACP’s students supported this cause by attending Tuesday’s game. ACP also collected cash donations at the entrance of the game. Along with Tuesday’s game, students purchased a pink ACPVB logo sticker for a suggested $3 donation. Finally, our wonderful ACP students help supportted this cause by making an online donation by scanning the QR code provided on the volleyball flyer.

ACP’s Dig Pink game was a massive success, for they raised $3,172, which was $672 over their goal! With your support, ACPVB and the Side-Out Foundation hope to find a cure for Metastatic Cancer.
