ACP Erie has officially been challenged by ACP Oakland to see which campus can raise the most money for the Chandler Education Foundation, Cash for Classrooms Donation Drive. In an interview with Principal Bickes, I found out more about what the challenge entails and how to go about supporting it:

Q: What is the Chandler Education Foundation, Cash for Classrooms Donation Drive?

A: The Chandler Education Foundation, Cash for Classrooms Donation Drive, is where we ask students and parents within the CUSD District to donate to the Chandler Education Foundation. This money is then collected and redistributed to classrooms for teachers to use. For example, we have submitted an application for funds to have a 3D printer, as well as an application for funds to help with our ACP International Festival.  So, the teachers have to fill out a grant application. If their application is approved, what happens on a certain date is that a team comes to the school and announces that you got the money you requested. So, these funds go directly back to the classroom.

Q: Where can students and parents donate money to the CEF drive?

A: They can either donate online or bring their money to a classroom.

Q: Because the money goes to the classrooms, what are some of the ideas that you have for the money we will receive?

A: It depends on what grants have been submitted by the teachers. So, some teachers submit individual grants. I know our chess club has submitted grants before and has received money. The Spanish department has received money in the past, too. This year, the two major ones I am aware of are the 3D printer grants and the International Festival grant.

Q: Do you have any extra comments to add?

A: Let’s beat ACP Oakland!

Knights, it’s time to support our school and our district. Let’s beat ACP Oakland, and work to help bring money to our classrooms!
