I Killed in the City of Dreams

I killed in the city of dreams,

took the stars

that encase my hopes

in halos of childish innocence,

and smashed their bones into ashes

of brittle yellow.

painted the streets

in the hues of my burning desires

so to regret my choices,

and leave the bodies to rot in the fires

know the blood on my hands

as well as I know my regrets

and my self-tainted hands

killed in the city of dreams

for both me and you,

so love would prevail

beyond time’s bitter limits,

But dreams always halt to an end,

and love fades away,

so I must live with the ghost of my choice

to kill in the city of dreams.
