Each year on April 22nd, a celebration we know by the name of Earth Day takes place to raise awareness for our environment and community. This holiday began in 1970, and ever since then, the U.S. has attempted its best to take care of our planet on this important day. Taking care of Earth is crucial because, without the trees that provide us oxygen and the plants that give us joy, we would not be able to live the same as we do now.
It all began in the spring of 1970 when Senator Gaylord Nelson created an individual day that primarily focuses on issues around our environment. Some major conflicts the U.S. struggled with and still does today are pollution and littering.
If you want to help your planet, start by limiting your shower time to conserve water. You can also always remember to reduce, reuse, and recycle paper, plastic, aluminum, etc. If possible, try walking or biking as your new form of transportation to reduce emissions released from fossil fuel-powered vehicles.
At ACP, we are committed to helping Earth. At lunch, you may find bins in which you can place your empty cans after enjoying a flavorful drink. By doing this, you are one step closer to saving our planet. Remember to strive for the impossible and be extraordinary. Go Knights!
