For many years, schools have been practicing the tradition of Homecoming to welcome students into the school year. It is an opportunity for students to come together and demonstrate school pride as well as socialize as a community. Contrary to popular belief, Homecoming is more than a mere school dance. It becomes a cherished memory that students will carry with them even after they graduate. At ACP, students from every grade eagerly await the arrival of the dance and the events hosted along with it, such as the Homecoming football game. Homecoming week was full of excitement and fun as students dressed up for spirit week, cheered at the pep assembly, and attended the football game to show off their school spirit.
Selected by our student council, this year’s Homecoming theme was Hollywood. Students dressed up in their very best red-carpet outfits and enjoyed the music as well as the photo booths. I had the opportunity to interview Kaylen Han from the class of 2027 about her experience at Homecoming. As she stated, “My favorite part of this year’s Homecoming was the thrilling and lively environment. Seeing many students have fun made the atmosphere enjoyable for everyone else. Because of this, I think school spirit is crucial to our school’s community. When I see so many people taking part in events, I find myself going to them and inviting other people as well.” Along with the Homecoming football game and pep assembly, spirit week allowed students to show off their school pride before Homecoming night. It generated excitement as they dressed up according to each day’s themes and had fun expressing themselves. The themes included Adam Sandler, Jaws (Tropical), Barbie (Pink Out), and Flashing Lights.
This year’s Homecoming was a memorable experience for everyone, especially for freshmen as it was their first high school dance. It is important to thank our student council and staff for planning this dance and allowing all students to have an amazing time. Homecoming was a great way to commence our school’s second quarter, and we cannot wait to see what the student council has in store for us! Go Knights!
