Teachers play a crucial role in our academic careers and futures. Not only do they teach us academically, but they also teach us life lessons that remain with us after high school and upon entering college. Strong teachers can go a long way toward positively impacting students’ confidence and self-esteem. Academically, they shape us into who we are as students. As the backbone of our education, they lead us into the next chapter of our lives. Teachers are role models for young people by offering their guidance and encouragement. Today, we will have the pleasure of interviewing one of the many new teachers at ACPHS, Mrs. Bisaccia.
While she was in high school, Mrs. Bisaccia found inspiration from her fellow English teachers. When I asked why she enjoys teaching English, she said she loves “writing and believes in the power of language to shape minds and perspectives. Teaching English allows me to share this passion and help students develop critical thinking and strong communication skills.” She’s had numerous teachers and mentors she still looks up to today; those individuals influenced her decision to become an English teacher. Mrs. Bisaccia’s students at ACP describe her as “approachable and engaging.” Being devoted to teaching her students, she says that she motivates them by “connecting subjects that matter to students’ interests and personal experiences. I encourage my students to set goals, celebrate small wins, and see the value in their efforts.” One of the goals that she aspires to reach is to “create an inclusive and interactive classroom where learning is enjoyable and relatable.”
I had the chance to ask what Mrs. Bisaccia looks forward to this year. The ACP Taylor Swift club is the first club she is sponsoring, and she is “really excited to bring students together through the power of music,” which is why she is so thrilled to be supporting the club this year. Outside the classroom, she likes spending time with her friends and family. When asked which she would prefer to do, go back in time or forward in time, she replied that she would choose the latter because “while the past holds valuable lessons, the future offers exciting possibilities and a chance to be part of progress and innovation.”
While she has been fortunate to check several countries off her travel bucket list, she has never been on a trip to Asia. I asked her what her ideal dream place to travel would be, and she said she “planned a graduation trip to Thailand with my mom that we were going to do after I finished my degree program at ASU; however, we never booked the trip due to COVID-related travel restrictions.” For fun, I asked her what breed she would of dog she would be and she responded, “a golden retriever because they are always smiling and happy.”
All ACP students have the opportunity to learn from outstanding teachers who are concerned about their overall well-being and academic performance. As our school gradually grows, we hope to learn from devoted and passionate teachers like Mrs. Bisaccia!
