October Events
After a well-needed, two and a half week fall break, ACP’s knights return to school on October 18th. Even with a successful break of sleeping in, playing sports, and hanging with my friends, I was bored most of the time. October is almost over; however, that doesn’t mean there isn’t anything to do. With Halloween in less than two weeks, multiple festivals, haunted houses, and family events are available to the public, with some costing no more than $35. These events include:
Fairs:
Arizona state fair (October 6-29)- $10 adult ticket- This yearly festival includes food, games, rides, and even performing artists and bands.
Rainbows Festival (October 21-22)- Free – This second annual festival and street fair shows your LGBTQ pride and aims to help show a positive image of the LGBTQ community.
Salt River Fields Balloon Spooktacular (October 27-28)- $15 adult- The 7th annual fair houses 20 hot-air balloons, candy for trick or treaters, live music, food, a free kids zone, venders, fireworks, and much more.
Halloween Themed Events:
Schnepf Farms Pumpkin and Chili Party (October 5-29)- $19 per person- Admission includes hayrides, corn mazes, bonfires, petting zoo, mini golf, and much much more. Pumpkins are also available for sale ranging from $3-$20.
Nightfall at Old Tucson (September 29- October 31)- $28 adult ticket- This haunted festival has multiple haunted houses, a haunted hayride, and other spooky events.
Halloween Spooktacular (October 27)- free -This event is not all around scary, for it is a family event; however, along with costume contests, it also has a haunted house for older children.
Howl-O-Ween (October 27-28)- $12.95- The Phoenix Zoo hosts this annual event for the whole family. Non-scary activities include a mad science laboratory, the “Scare”ousel, and many more. Scarier attractions include Zombie Laser Tag, Camp Nightmare, and Area 51.
Golfland Fright Night (Every Thursday- Saturday in October)- $18 for mini golf and haunted house $14 for only the haunted house- Golfland hosts an annual event , which includes mini golf and “Arizona’s Best Haunted House”. This haunted house is sure to give you a fright before Halloween.
Fear Farm (Open until October 31)- $27-$34 depending on the day- Voted the “Best Haunted House” in 2015, the Fear Farm is sure to offer a terrifying experience for all who dare to enter. The Farm hosts 6 indoor and outdoor haunted houses and the Phoenix Haunted Hayride.
13th Floor (Open all days except October 23)- $27-$34 depending on the day- This walkthrough haunted attraction is back in Arizona for Halloween. These two haunted attraction are sure to terrify you, so if you like a good scare, the 13th Floor is for you.
The House on Camino (October 30-31)- Free but donations welcome- This garage haunted house was created in 2008 and has been scaring children ever since. All donations go to the Child Crisis Center in Mesa, Arizona.
Enjoy these frightening events during the Halloween season! With only a nine-week quarter, these next few weeks will fly by. Soon, it will be time for finals and winter break, another well-deserved break. Have a great second quarter, and Go Knights!
