Preparing for the International Knights Festival!
Many people would agree that our school is one of the most diverse schools in Arizona in terms of cultural backgrounds. From Vietnam to even Canada, whether you were born in America or outside of the country, it would only make sense for our school to celebrate their teachers’ and students’ cultures through a festival that recognizes these cultures and embraces their traditions.
After a two-year-hiatus-because of Covid-the festival was back, and as a first-hand witness to the festivities, I can tell you that it was a blast! The courtyard was decorated with different booths that represented countries and their traditions from all around the globe, and some booths even had food to share with their visitors! You could even buy a passport beforehand, which would be stamped by the representatives of each country as you learn about the different cultures. On one occasion, there was even a fashion show that displayed the robes and garments from different cultures, from Hawaii to Gujurat. At the festival, there were performers that expressed the artistic history of their culture through music. To learn more about last year’s festival, you can click on this article here.
This year and last year, the festival was sponsored by Mrs. Williams and members of the International Club. Your heritage is fundamental to who you are as a person, in terms of your genetics and personality. All cultures should be celebrated and embraced because we can learn a lot from other people’s perspectives. Make sure you attend the festival, and if you can, sign up to participate! Remember to strive for the impossible and be extraordinary, Knights!
