The 2017 Homecoming Court Royalty after being crowned.

The first quarter is nearly set and done, a few more hours of school till fall break freedom. ACP’s journey through the quarter has been colored with new traditions and splattered with school-wide events that have strengthened the bond of the ACP family. These last couple of weeks have been quite cluttered with quarterfinals, spirit week, the Homecoming football game, nominating the Homecoming court, and, of course, the Homecoming dance. Speaking of Homecoming, because why not, the winners of the 2017 Homecoming court were announced at last Friday’s Homecoming football game.

The process for nominating the 2017 Homecoming court took place through Infinite Campus, and here are all the lucky students who were elected to the court:

Homecoming Royalty:

King and Queen:

Nadeem Shiban and Daniela Navarro

Junior Prince and Princess:

Cole Smith and Courtney Reynolds

Sophomore Prince and Princess:

Nathan France and Kelsey Burns

Freshman Prince and Princess:

Joel Diaz and Ally Halverson

Winning a spot on the Homecoming court is certainly a memorable moment; here are a few words from this year’s court:

Homecoming Queen, Daniela Navarro.

Daniela Navarro

Q: How did you feel once you found out you were nominated for the Homecoming court?

A: I was really excited. Nadeem got announced first, so being announced last out of the court was a little nerve-racking.

Q: Would you say being apart of the Homecoming court was the greatest moment of your entire life?

A: Maybe not of my life, but it was a pretty big highlight of my senior year.

Q: Did you celebrate your win? If so, how so?

A: I did not really do anything specific because, of course, the dance was the next day. I am in cheer so I had to help take down everything [at the football game].

Q: Knowing this Homecoming is your last, how did this nomination impact you? Did it make your last Homecoming more memorable?

A: It definitely made it more memorable. It has been an aspiration of mine to be in the Homecoming court since I was a freshman, and being senior Homecoming queen was pretty cool.

Nadeem Shiban

Q: How did you feel once you found out you were nominated for the Homecoming court?

A: I was both honored and humbled when I learned that my classmates voted for me and Daniela.

Q: Would you say being a part of the Homecoming court was the greatest moment of your entire life?

A: Being apart of the court was certainly enjoyable; I have never had a Homecoming experience as memorable, but I would not say that being part of the court was the greatest moment of my entire life.

Q: Did you celebrate your win? If so, how so?

A: I did not celebrate, but I certainly had some firm embraces (with other guys, of course) after I was crowned.

Q: Knowing this Homecoming is your last, how did this nomination impact you? Did it make your last Homecoming more memorable?

A: This nomination allowed me to experience a truly unique and exciting Homecoming. Daniela and I were overjoyed after learning we were voted king and queen, and she was all smiles every moment of the dance, which made this year’s Homecoming by far the most memorable for me.

Courtney Reynolds

Q: How did you feel once you found out you were nominated for the Homecoming court?

A: I was really excited and really happy about it. Last year, my best friend was nominated for Homecoming court. So last year when she got nominated I was thinking of how it would be really cool to be nominated with her and we could be on the HOCO court together.

Q: Would you say being apart of the Homecoming court was the greatest moment of your entire life?

A: I have had a lot of pretty great moments in my life, so I wouldn’t say it was the greatest moment in my life. It was a really big honor though.

Q: Did you celebrate your win? If so, how so?

A: I did. Me and my boyfriend, who was also nominated, went to dinner.

Q: Do you hope to be nominated again next year?

A: I don’t know, we will see. It would be cool to be nominated again, but if I am not, that is cool too.

Junior Cole Smith, who was nominated for Junior class Homecoming prince.

Cole Smith

Q: How did you feel once you found out you were nominated for the Homecoming court?

A: It was awesome, and I was exhilarated that my peers voted for me.

Q: Would you say being apart of the Homecoming court was the greatest moment of your entire life?

A: No, not the greatest moment of my life, but it was certainly a very enjoyable experience.

Q: Did you celebrate your win? If so, how so?

A:  I threw my hands around in the air a little bit, but that was about it.

Q: Do you hope to be nominated again next year?

A: Absolutely, I am going for king next year.

Kelsey Burns

Q: How did you feel once you found out you were nominated for the Homecoming court?

A: I was happy, and winning was a bit of a surprise.

Q: Would you say being apart of the Homecoming court was the greatest moment of your entire life?

A: It was really nice and special.

Q: Did you celebrate your win? If so, how so?

A: I went out for ice cream after with Nathan, who was also nominated.

Q: Do you hope to be nominated again next year?

A: I think that someone else should have the chance to be in the spotlight next year.

Nathan France

Q: How did you feel once you found out you were nominated for the Homecoming court?

A: Well, it was definitely exciting, and I was happy to be nominated. I want to thank everyone who voted for me to be on the court.

Q: Would you say being apart of the Homecoming court was the greatest moment of your entire life?

A: I would say it was one of the best, yes.

Q: Did you celebrate your win? If so, how so?

A: I did not celebrate per say, but I did have a good time with my friends and my girlfriend, who also won.

Q: Do you hope to be nominated again next year?

A: That would be special to be nominated two years in a row; I don’t really hope for it, but if it happens, then that would be nice.

Freshman, Ally Halverson, who was nominated for the court.

Ally Halverson

Q: How did you feel once you found out you were nominated for the Homecoming court?

A: I was surprised, but happy that my classmates voted for me.

Q: Would you say being apart of the Homecoming court was the greatest moment of your entire life?

A: Yeah, sure.

Q: Did you celebrate your win? If so, how so?

A: I did not exactly celebrate, but I did keep the roses.

Q: Do you hope to be nominated again next year?

A: I was glad that I was nominated this year, but if it happens, it happens.

Freshman Joel Diaz, who was nominated for the court.

Joel Diaz

Q: How did you feel once you found out you were nominated for the Homecoming Court?

A: It was kinda cool.

Q: Would you say being apart of the Homecoming court was the greatest moment of your entire life?

A: It was neat and fun, but it was not the most incredible moment.

Q: Did you celebrate your win? If so, how so?

A: When I was nominated, I was more focused on the football game, but at Homecoming I had fun.

Q: Do you hope to be nominated again next year?

A: Well, I owe someone $40 if I get nominated again next year, so not particularly. If I was nominated again, it would still be cool.

Congratulations to everyone who was nominated. I hope everyone enjoyed their Homecoming night and will have a fantastic fall break!
