Eeman Huda 1st Place Win Speech and Debate
Senior Eeman Huda won 1st place in the big questions section at the Scorpion Spectacular at Mountain Ridge High School l and brought home the 1st place trophy, their 5th of the season. The tournament consisted of 33 schools with 434 entries. I interviewed Eeman about his win and his experience of doing speech and debate.
Q: What is the big section of the debate?
A: The question we were asked to the debate was if religion was beneficial to society or not.
Q: How long have you been doing Speech and Debate and when did you start?
A: I started doing Speech and Debate when I was in my freshman year, so for about four years.
Q: Were you nervous when competing or are you used to being in front of people by now?
A: At first I was very nervous to have to be in front of groups of people but over time I started to get used to it.
Q: How does it feel to win 1st place in the big questions section, and did you ever think you would get this far?
A: It feels very good because I have worked very hard throughout all my years of doing Speech and Debate, so this was such a good win for me.
Q: What are some of your other hobbies and things you like to do in your free time?
A: Some things I like doing in my free time are watching TV and sleeping, mostly anything to do with relaxing.
Q: What do you like most about doing Speech and Debate?
A: What I like most about Speech and Debate is the friendships and bonds that I have made along the way and the activity in general.
