Time and time again, students come and go as the years pass by. With the Class of 2021 nearing its graduation, we’ve taken a moment to chat with one of ACP’s Class of 2020 graduates, Denisse Ramirez, to see how she has been handling her first year of college as a student at Arizona State University. Denisse, a lovely girl I had the honor of sharing sixth hour chemistry with two years back, is in the midst of being immersed into college life. Here’s what Denisse had to say about her recent year as a community health major at ASU:

Q: Why did you pick community health as a major?

A: I have known I wanted to go into healthcare ever since I was little; I was the “nurse” of the family. I want to relieve people of pain, whether mental or physical, and let them know that they have someone. I plan to enroll in the nursing program next year.

Q: What have you enjoyed the most about college so far?

A: I have enjoyed going to the campus to study in the library or food court and meeting new people. The campuses are very nice.

Q: How do you juggle schoolwork and jobs?

A: Working two jobs and doing school may definitely seem challenging but it’s not impossible! I create a schedule for schoolwork and studying every week so that I do not have to worry about my work interfering with school! I make sure I follow my schedule and even get ahead at times to have time to spend with family and friends.

Q: What do you miss the most about ACP?

A: I miss the small community, the teachers, and all the lovely office staff.

Q: What advice do you have for high school seniors?

A: You have time. Do not stress out so much college is not as bad as they make it seem, just keep up with your work. Do not miss out on any opportunities, look for and apply for as many scholarships as possible. Believe in yourself and definitely enjoy the rest of your years in high school. Be in the present and live life to the fullest.

Q: What is your favorite flower and why?

A: My favorite flowers are Peruvian Lilies. They signify friendship and devotion, last for a while, and are absolutely beautiful.

Q: If you could go on an adventure with any movie character, who would it be and where would you go?

A: I would definitely go on an adventure with Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) from my favorite movie series, Fast and Furious. I would love to drive around the city, late at night, at a crazy high speed in his Dodge Charger.

A huge thanks to Denisse for taking the time to give us a little insight into the life of a college freshmen! Don’t forget: once a Knight, always a Knight!
