Even though ACP Erie has a dress code, there are so many other ways we can express ourselves and our uniqueness. Distinction and self-expression are such crucial elements in high school because these are the years where people are trying to figure out who they are and who they want to become in the future. Sure, there are some parts of yourself that you won’t be able to show because of the dress code, but that doesn’t mean your ability to showcase your identity is eliminated. Here are some ways you can still be stylish while following our dress code.

  1. Style your hair.

Hair doesn’t affect the dress code, and it can add a great touch to your outfit. Trying new hairstyles are always fun because it allows you to adjust with your outfit choice of the day. For girls, you can try wearing braids, the trendy “messy bun”, or a simple but cute ponytail. Even a stylish ribbon or a headband would be nice. For boys, you can try parting your hair differently to compliment your face shape and selecting hair products that are right for you.

2. Accessorize.

There are so many stunning accessory choices out there today, like pretty necklaces, bracelets, and/or rings. You can wear fun colors and new styles of jewelry that can make your outfit pop. It can definitely improve your look if you are trying to change up your style.

3. Choose items within the dress code with interesting details.

One of the best ways to look chic and stylish while following the dress code is by choosing clothing that has unique and distinct characteristics. Of course, these items have to be within the dress code, but there are so many ways you can expand on your options. This could include wearing a stunning white cardigan with a comfortable texture or a tie with originality and individuality.

4. Experiment with clothing and accessory options.

You can try creating small variations of an outfit, so you can stand out in the crowd. This includes trying out cool and colorful shoes within the school dress code, adding layers to the uniform, or switching up your belt. If you’re not sure about a certain accessory or clothing item, I suggest asking Mrs. McClure before wearing it to school.

5. Get special glasses frames.

For those who wear glasses, you can spice up your look by getting unique glasses frames. It’s a fun and expressive way to show your distinction and personality. You can alter the shape, the color, and the design and wear it to school anytime you want.

6. Spice up your bags and backpacks.

Our school dress code does not have anything limiting the types of backpacks students wear, so another great way to improve your look is by buying a backpack that shows the real you. You can pick any color and theme you want as long as it’s appropriate.
